It's official: I leave Bayern Munich and I am now a Real Madrid player.

I want to thank Bayern Munich for a wonderful time. 16 years ago I took the decision to play for Bayern, and since then I was proud each day to be given the opportunity to be a player with this excellent club. Playing alongside players like Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose, Luca Toni and Franck Ribery I enjoyed great success. Many private and sporting memories come to my mind. I am sure that in particular the triple in 2013 will stay in my and your memories forever.

In addition to that I have worked with exceptional coaches: With Ottmar Hitzfeld, with "Tiger" Hermann Gerland, with Louis van Gaal or with Jupp Heynckes, with whom I already had a good time when I was at Bayer Leverkusen. The period at Leverkusen was very important for my career and I wouldn`t want to miss a single day. And I would like to also express a special thanks to Rudi Völler and Michael Reschke. Working with Pep Guardiola last season was also an exeptional experience. Pep has an outstanding personality , he is a very special coach and stands out from all fantastic coaches I had the pleasure to work with.It has helped me a lot and I want to thank him and the director of sports, Matthias Sammer, whom I already got to know during my time with the national youth teams of the DFB, for the confidence they gave me. Dear Pep Guardiola, dear Matthias Sammer, dear friends of the team of FC Bayern: I wish you all success in the years to come!

Having won all the major titles in club football with Bayern Munich and after winning the World Cup in Brazil,I think the time has come for change and to take on a new challenge. That's why I'm looking to taking on the new challenge at Real Madrid with the greatest respect. A club that is a myth with a great tradition and that is one of the greatest powerhouses in international football. A club with a glorious past and an exciting future. A team with great individual players and a wonderful team spirit as seen last year when they won "la decima ". A ver...a mi los de Francia para arriba nunca me han gustado fisicamente, es decir, los rubios, blanquitos y con rasgos del norte de Europa nunca me gustan. Tiene ojos bonitos, como Bale, nada más...
